7 Best-Selling Games of All Time
Back when gaming was in its early stages there were only a few game developer companies, and a relatively small number of games compared to today. Now, it’s impossible to count all of the releases and there are hundreds of indie studios trying to create the next best thing. So, let’s see what are some of the best-selling games of all time.
Super Mario Bros
This is how most people got into gaming, and this title in particular still has a community of speed runners who learned to play it perfectly. It sold over 40 million copies, and Mario Kart sold over 45 million copies.
Pokémon (First Generation)
The Pokemon franchise is really huge and one of the main exclusives that’s able to carry Nintendo sales. But, it was kind of big right from the get-go, as the first generation of games sold the most copies, somewhere around 45 and 47 million.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
PUBG isn’t the most played battle royale game, but it is the title that was sold and not free to play like Fortnite. The game sold over 70 million copies, and it still provides one of the best battle royale experiences, especially for those players who want a more realistic experience.
Wii Sports
Wii was a massive hit, as it offered a new and unique way to play games. One of the best ways to demonstrate its capabilities was through Wii Sports which is why the game was a massive success, selling nearly 83 million copies.
Grand Theft Auto V
We all knew that GTA V was going to be an amazing game but nobody dreamed that it would be this huge. This is an open-world game with a vast community and it’s still popular up to this day. It sold over 150 million copies and the numbers are still growing.
Minecraft
Even if you never liked video games, chances are you heard about Minecraft or at least seen a few videos or images. This is the game that still has the biggest player base up to this day and thanks to its mechanics it will never get old. It sold over 238 million copies and it is technically the game with the most sales. But the number one spot is kind of impossible to compete with.
Tetris
One game that has been around for decades and everyone knows about is Tetris. Though there are many different versions they are all basically the same. This one was around for more than 40 years and it sold over 500 million copies. The one from EA mobile alone sold 100 million copies, but it would be weird to include only that version on the list. In other words, Tetris is in a league of its own and Minecraft is the actual winner.
